Jacob Fox joined Safety Harbor Middle School as the Director of Bands in 2025. Mr. Fox graduated with his Bachelor of Science degree in Music Education from the University of South Florida. While at USF, Fox was a member of the 300+ member Herd of Thunder Marching Band for two years. He studied Tuba and Euphonium under Professor Joseph Alvarez, Principal Tuba of the Venice and Imperial Symphony Orchestras, and Dr. Aaron Campbell, President of the Tampa Brass Band. Fox also studied conducting under Dr. Matthew McCutchen and Dr. Marc Sosnowchik.
Prior to his appointment at Safety Harbor Middle School, Fox was the Director of Bands at Meadowlawn Middle School in St. Petersburg, FL. During his 3 years at Meadowlawn, Mr. Fox was able to double the size of the band program, restore the Lancer Jazz Band, and revitalize a culture of excellence on the stage and in the classroom. Under Mr. Fox, the MMS Band received its first SUPERIOR rating in almost 10 years, as well as being the only Pinellas County middle school to earn a SUPERIOR rating at the 2025 FBA District 9 Jazz MPA. During his second and third years at Meadowlawn, Mr. Fox was recognized as the MMS Emerging Teacher of the Year, and PCMEA Rookie Teacher of the Year.
Additionally, Mr. Fox is entering his 7th year serving as the Brass Instructor for the East Lake High School Silver Sound Marching Band, where he has the opportunity to oversee former Seahawk Musicians continue to learn and grow. The Silver Sound has earned Straight SUPERIOR ratings every year at FBA District 9 Marching MPA since Fox joined the staff.
Fox is a member of NAfME, FMEA, FBA, ITEA, and Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia, and resides in Clearwater, Fl.
